Part of my preference for the Kobalt over Husky is that I generally prefer and shop a lot more at Lowes than I do at Home Depot, so I typically don't have to make a special trip to Lowes to pick up a tool. To date I have not yet broke any of the Kobalt tools, so I can't speak to their customer service. In addition to being a beautiful matte black. But the Husky tool chest is best for professionals and beginners when compared to Milwaukee which can be used by hobbyists. But I do love the smaller lock angle on the Kobalt ratchets. Out top pick for the best tool chest has to be the Husky 52-inch tool chest and rolling workbench combo. So far I've been pretty happy, although I do prefer the grip on the old Craftsman ratchets. My Craftsman tools are not glossy with a bright shine and dont scratch quite so easily. Ive adjusted to the old made in USA Craftsman tools and personally dont care much for either Husky of Kobalt. So I recently refreshed my sockets and wrenches with the set that Nukeman7 links to above. I have mostly Craftsman tools but have added a couple of Husky wrenches and Kobalt sockets over the years. Home Depot has a Husky chest that has more capacity.

Lowes currently has the 3000 series bottom on sale for 559, and the top on sale for 439. While Craftsman wrenches and sockets seem to still be of good quality, if I'm not going to be going in there for other tools, it isn't worth going in only for sockets and wrenches. Im in the market for my first real tool box/chest, and was wondering if I could solicit some feedback from you all.
After being disappointed in recent years with newer Craftsman tools, and with less than stellar customer service at Sears, I've written them off.
